The latest NAC Naval Affairs Paper is now up on the national website (click image below)
NAC VP and Director Naval Affairs, Tim Addison, expressed his sincere thanks to all who attended the workshop in Calgary last November and/or made contributions to this paper. Although the original objective was to focus on what the RCN needs to consider for the next Leadmark, the paper expanded over time to a more strategic assessment of what the NAC thinks the Government of Canada should consider and address regarding the state of Canada's current and future maritime forces.
The paper contains some controversial ideas and recommendations and that is deliberate. The intent is to draw attention to the deteriorated state of Canada's military capabilities, in particular its Navy, and the risks of not taking action in the face of increasingly dangerous and unpredictable adversaries. The aim was to produce a paper that will get attention and generate discussion.
