Acclaimed retired journalist and war correspondent Lt(N) Peter Ward, a former Naval Reservist with HMCS YORK, will tell his first-hand account of how and why he got involved in saving from the breakers the "Fightingest Ship in the Royal Canadian Navy".  From high stakes negotiations with politicians and mortgaging his house, to enlisting HRH Prince Philip as patron and assisting Parks Canada with the RCN flagship ceremony decades later, Peter Ward has been part of it all. Today, HMCS HAIDA National Historic Site serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by our sailors during the Second World War and the Korean War. Peter Ward is the last of the original five founding members of HAIDA Inc.
