CSC: the National Shipbuilding Strategy in Motion
Industry will provide an update on CSC in context of the National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS). Scott Jamieson, Vice President of Programs, Irving Shipbuilding Industries (ISI) will provide an overview of ISI’s role and how CSC fits into the NSS. Gary Fudge, General Manager of Lockheed Martin Canada will present Lockheed Martin’s role on CSC and discuss progress and upcoming activities since Lockheed Martin Canada was awarded a contract on 7 February 2019.
As a larger than usual attendance is anticipated for this presentation, a bigger venue has been arranged. As usual, a bar and refreshments during the break will be available.

Scott Jamieson is Vice President, Programs with Irving Shipbuilding, Canada’s chosen combatant shipbuilder and in-service ship support provider for the Royal Canadian Navy’s east coast fleet.
Mr. Jamieson joined Irving Shipbuilding in 2011 and is responsible for leading the Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ship (AOPS) and the Canadian Surface Combatant (CSC) Programs as part of the National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS) Combat Package. He also leads the company’s Business Transformation and Governance activities.
After graduating from University in the United Kingdom with a degree in Business with Law, Mr. Jamieson joined the naval shipbuilding division of BAE Systems, one of the world’s largest defense contractors. Based at a number of shipbuilding facilities in the UK, he worked on and led many warship construction programs including Frigates, Offshore Patrol Vessels, various large Auxiliary ships, Corvettes and Fast Attack Ships.
During his time with BAE Systems, Mr. Jamieson obtained a Master’s Degree in Project Management and held a number of senior positions running major naval ship construction programs for various governments including the UK Ministry of Defense as well as international customers.
He lives in the Halifax area with his wife Eleanor and two daughters.

Gary Fudge was appointed General Manager at Lockheed Martin Canada Rotary and Mission Systems in 2017. He also serves as the Capture Executive for the Canadian Surface Combatant (CSC) program as well as the Director, Canadian Naval Systems within LM Canada RMS which includes the Halifax Class Modernization (HCM) Project and the Arctic Offshore Patrol Ship (AOPS) program.
Mr. Fudge, leads an organization of more than 600 employees located across Canada and has a total program portfolio valued well above $1.5B (Cdn). The company’s main focus is the development and integration of sophisticated defence programs in both the Canadian and International markets.
Mr. Fudge’s business LM Canada profile, which spans more than 25 years in the management of large, sophisticated engineering programs, includes: LM Canada RMS Program Director for the Halifax Class Modernization (HCM) project where he was responsible for the management of the upgrade of the Royal Canadian Navy’s fleet of 12 frigates and the associated In-Service Support project. This HCM project included the development of the Combat Management System (CMS 330) and oversight of several multi-disciplinary product teams, international subcontractors and Canadian shipyards on two coasts.
Prior to the HCM project, Mr. Fudge was a member of the Program Management Office and Director of Software Development for the Canadian Patrol Frigate project. From 1994 to 1998, he started up LM Canada’s In-Service Support unit for the Halifax Class as the Program Manager of the ISES project in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He also held the Program Manager Director roles for ACR, DSCAN and SpotSar. On the strategic planning of Naval business, he was instrumental in successfully guiding LM Canada’s efforts on the following projects: Quest Upgrade, Operations Room Team Trainer, Maintenance Procedures Trainer and Combat System Engineering Support.
Mr. Fudge, a graduate of the Computer Science program at the Memorial University of Newfoundland, is also the proud recipient of several performance awards throughout his career with LM Canada.
Mr. Fudge, who enjoys hiking, resides in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada with his wife Christine.
